With the new movie "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" out and it getting close to the holiday season, I'm very worried that people will be running out to buy a dog that may not be suited to their family. Best Friends Animal Sanctuary has the same fear and they'e put out a poster to encourage responsible pet acquisition. I uploaded it to the pictures section and hope everyone who has a public place to put one will print it off and do so.
Great idea, Beth. Nobody should give animals as a gift. There is a lot of responsibility involved and a lot of thought and research put into. There are also a lot of animals who are not suited for children. Per example hamsters (they are nocturnal!) or chicken (salmonella bacterias). While I am hoping the Chihuahua craze doesn't cause any troubles I feel this movie is great. I went to see it on opening night. My room mate and my 20 year old son were as excited as I was to hang out with the dog lovers that were there. The Fair was in full swing and we were three of only about 20 folks in the theater that night...good times. I laughed and almost cried a couple of times. What a great social commentary this film is. Go see it.
